| Oh goodness. I'm getting married in seven days. A lot of people are coming three days early to hang out and help out. And my FI had a major case of pre wedding jitters and wasn't sure if he could handle being married. That was two days ago. He's since decided that he can handle it, and anything that he can't handle, we'll just deal with it then. And his sister told him that's what divorce lawyers are for. Who says that? Suffice it to say that she has fallen from my list of top 10 people. I know that everyone gets prewedding jitters, and I'm one of them. But that doesn't mean you start telling someone that that's what they make divorce lawyers for. (NOTE: FI told me that he wasn't keeping divorce as an option, or even thinking about divorce.) Jitters are NORMAL, duh Renee (his sister), not time to tell your brother who is nervous, scared, and crying (yes, crying) that that's what divorce lawyers are for. Insensitive, don't you think? | | |
| Wow, I've been gone for a while. My mom has been having some serious health problems, so that contributed to my absence. However, I've gotten some wedding stuff done, and attended a surprise bachelorette party! It was so fun. We went to eat at Don Pablo's (awesome mexican restaurant), and then went back to my friend's house for the requisite bachelorette party games, such as pin the hose on the fireman. Otherwise, it's 12 days until my wedding, and I have 20 things on my to-do list for this week alone. Whoa. | | |
| Wow. God has really taken care of this whole wedding thing. With three weeks to go, everything is coming together smoothly. Here is a synopsis: - Flowers: Remember when I told you about the woman who we were originally going to get to do our wedding flowers? The one who wanted to charge us $500 to put together bouquets of fake flowers? Well, we said no way jose and planned to do it on our own. So we went to our trusty neighborhood (if you can call 35 miles away in the neighborhood) Michaels and bought all the flowers for less than $70 and until Monday they were sitting in my old laundry hamper just waiting for me and mom to put them together when Ms. Carolyn, my 'aunt' told us that her sister does wedding flowers all the time and would do ours for free if we gave her our flowers. So we did, and man are they beautiful!!!!! I can't wait to carry them down the aisle.
Gotta go get my mom. Bye | | |
| FI and I have a place to live! He called the place where we submitted applications and had background checks done, and we got the apartment and can begin moving stuff in today!!! The only damper is I have to be the one writing the check for first months rent, deposit, and to have the electric turned on, and I don't have that kind of money. So we are hoping that she doesn't deposit the check right away so we can go to the bank and FI can transfer the money into my account so it will actually be there. Other than that, nothing much to report on the wedding front. I've got to get some brunch invitations together soon. And write out the rehearsal dinner invitations. I've got next week to do that though.

| Exactly one month from today, at approximately 7:30 p.m., I will be a married woman! I'm so excited!!!!
So, we met with my pastor for our whirlwind marriage counseling weekend. And it could not have gone better. My pastor is super duper nice, and the first day (Saturday), we talked about the practical aspects of marriage such as finances, children, careers, and COMMUNICATION (my specialty lol). He got a small bio from FI, and since he has known me for the past seven years, he pretty much knew a lot about me. Then we just talked about the practical stuff, and it was really fun. I was really tired though (my stinkin allergy to nature makes me drowsy) and I kept yawning, so FI thought I was bored, but I wasn't.
Then on Sunday, we met again and talked about the spiritual side of marriage. I got a lot out of that, and my pastor shared his story with FI, and it suprised me that their stories are so similar, so I hope that my FI got something out of it. We read verses in Ephesians 6 about marriage, and FI loved the part about wives submitting to their husbands. What a guy.
And I finally sat down with FI and picked out some music for the reception, and I figured out what I am going to walk down the aisle to (I think). The contender right now is "Meant to Be" by Jim Brickman, which I heard last night and thought it was beautiful. Our unity candle song is going to be "Love is here to stay" by Frank Sinatra. My sister is gathering all the ceremony music and compiling it onto one CD, and FI is compiling all the reception music and putting it onto a CD. Since our reception is so late at night (it starts at eight) and I don't want to be there all night, we are only planning on about an hour and 15 mins to an hour and a half of dancing. I'm not a great dancer, and FI doesn't really enjoy dancing (but he does enjoy teasing me about my lack of skills), so this is perfect for us. Plus, I'll have been up for a really long time and will most likely be tired.
Also hammered out a preliminary order of service. Details when they are finalized.
Whew, that's a long post. I'll save some for later!
